Laying the corner stone for a waste water treatment plant in Serbia

Hager + Elsässer GmbH is building a sophisticated waste water treatment plant for a yeast factory in Serbia. The cornerstone was laid in a ceremony end of November 2008.

[Translate to english:] Alltech Fermin in Senta, Serbien

Grundsteinlegung WWTP

Alltech Fermin in Senta (Serbia) is a food manufacturing plant, producing yeast products. In the past, the waste water resulting from the yeast production process was insufficiently treated which leaded to environmental impact.

Hager + Elsässer offered a solution which could convince the regional management of Alltech Fermin as well as the municipality government of Vojvodina quite quickly. The waste water from yeast production is reliably cleaned, the gained biogas is used for power generation and the waste heat is also utilized in the factory.

The key components in this highly sophisticated waste water treatment process are fermentation for biogas production, realized as EGSB (expanded granular sludge bed), and an energy saving aerobic treatment, which is realized in the first step as Deammonification (Demon®).

Two Sequencing Batch Reactors, used as subsequent biological cleaning, and a chemical precipitation are ensuring the adherence to the limit values. To complete the system, treatments for sludge and discharge air will be installed, as well as two cogeneration units including biological sulphur elimination. The waste water treatment plant is designed for a capacity of 2500 m³ waste water per day. From the biogas resulting from the process, 1400 kW of electricity can be generated, which will be used for the fabrication process.

This waste water treatment plant is not only contributing to environment protection, the municipality government is hoping for new jobs provided in this region. Therefore, the media interest in the ceremony was considerably high.
