Boiler feedwater
Proper water treatment is of crucial importance for reliable, trouble-free and economic boiler operation. The chemical and physical properties of raw water change when it is heated, frequently resulting in incrustation and corrosion. This is exacerbated by improper operation or faulty installations.
Areas of application
Boilers up to an excess pressure of 68 bar:
Shell boilers, water-tube boilers, high-speed steam generators, natural circulation boilers.
Steam generators are used in many sectors of industry, e.g. in the wood-processing industry, food industry, laundries, hospitals (sterilisers), etc.
Applicable regulations
Technical regulations for steam boilers
TRD 611, TRD 612,
VdTUEV 1452 and 1453 codes of practice
DIN EN 12952 and 12953 standards
Water treatment objectives
The higher the water temperature, the faster chemical processes take place. This results in an increased
rate of corrosion and a higher risk of
precipitation by hardness components. This can lead to
reduced performance, failure or
malfunction. Water losses during evaporation can cause aggressive
salt concentrations to build up in the boiler water.
Optimum water treatment serves to:
- Prevent heat-accumulating deposits (energy conservation, protection of recyclable boiler materials against thermal overloads and irreparable damage)
- Avoid corrosion damage throughout the system (including condensate pipes) in order to ensure maximum availability, maintain quality, and minimise repair costs
- Ensure trouble-free boiler operation and purity of steam in line with the intended use with minimum blow-down losses (i.e. maximum cost-effectiveness).
To avoid follow-up costs due to damage or reduced performance, we offer you water treatment solutions which are specifically tailored to your requirements and which comply with current codes of practice and manufacturer specifications.
With our long years of experience, innovative technology, individual concepts and wall-to-wall solutions from a single source, Hager + Elsässer has the solution for your problems where water treatment is concerned. Thanks to our broad range of plants, we provide solutions for numerous industrial applications involving process and waste water.
Having our own
